Phenoxypropanol , a gycol ether, can be synthesized by reacting propylene oxide with phenol in the presence of Al2O3-MgO/Fe3O4 catalys. It has been used as an additive to saline to induce anesthetic effect on the peripheral tissues isolated from Biomphalaria alexandrina prior to fixation. Its molecular formula is C9H12O2.
